Morant Ejected As Grizzlies Fall To Thunder
The Grizzlies had their seven-game win streak come to an end Saturday as they fell 115-109 to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Luguentz Dort (24 points) and Isaiah Joe (23 points) led the way for the Thunder while Dillon Brooks had 32 points to top the Grizzlies. Ja Morant scored just six points in 16 minutes before being ejected for questioning the integrity of a referee.
The loss was likely just a bump in the road for the Grizzlies, who remain one of the hottest teams in the NBA while sitting atop the Western Conference standings. Memphis has won nine of its last 11 contests, averaging 120.4 points per game over that span.
Jokic Completes Triple-Double As Nuggets Top Hornets
The Nuggets picked up a 119-115 win over the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday thanks to a monster performance from Nikola Jokic, who had 40 points, 10 assists and a career-high 27 rebounds. LaMelo Ball scored 31 to lead the Hornets but couldn’t keep up with the reigning MVP.
Jokic wrote his name in the record books once again as he joined Wilt Chamberlain as just the second player in NBA history to record at least 40 points, 27 rebounds and 10 assists in a game. The big man is up to five triple-doubles this season, trailing only Luka Doncic (6) for the most in the league, while averaging more than 30 points per game in December.
Grizzlies Player Prop: Brooks OVER 23 Points (+123)
Brooks scored a season-high 32 points on Saturday and is averaging more than 20 points per game in December. Coming up against a mediocre Denver defense that ranks 17th in points against per game (114.8), Brooks should have a good shot at hitting the OVER.
Grizzlies: Keys To Win
The Grizzlies have had a nice bump in scoring thanks to some strong performances from players other than Morant. Brooks is averaging more than 20 points per game this month, second only to Morant, while Jaren Jackson Jr. and Tyus Jones have also led the way in a couple of recent games. If everyone keeps contributing, Memphis will be in good shape.
Nuggets: Keys To Win
The Nuggets are a banged-up squad going into this one, with Michael Porter Jr. (heel) doubtful, Jamal Murray (knee) and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (lower leg) listed as questionable and even Jokic (knee) listed as probable. If Jokic is left without most of his starting unit, he’ll have to have another monster game to get the Nuggets the win.
