Memphis Has Been Dominant Against Eastern Conference Teams
Two nights after losing to the Golden State Warriors 123-109 as 7-point favorites at home, the Grizzlies were blown out again Tuesday night in a 125-108 loss at home to the Phoenix Suns. Ja Morant had 34 points and six assists in the loss while Desmond Bane was the only other player on the Grizzlies to score double-digit points with 14.
Memphis is now 1-4 SU and ATS over its last five games since going 7-0 SU and 6-0-1 ATS over its previous seven. That run included a 6-0 SU and 5-0-1 ATS record against Eastern Conference teams, though all but one of those six games were played at home. The Grizzlies enter this matchup against the Raptors with a 7-10 SU and 4-12-1 ATS record on the road this season.
Toronto Has Been Playing Well As An Underdog Of Late
The Raptors lost to the Los Angeles Clippers 124-113 as a 4-point favorite at home on Tuesday night after Fred VanVleet left the game early with a back injury. Pascal Siakam recorded 36 points and nine rebounds in the loss and Gary Trent Jr. netted 20 points in 30 minutes off the bench. But those performances weren’t enough to help Toronto snap its home losing streak, which now sits at 0-4 SU and ATS.
Toronto did have some success as a road underdog in the three games prior to Tuesday night’s loss, however, compiling a 2-1 SU and 3-0 ATS record over that stretch. The Raptors are 9-5 ATS over their last 14 games as an underdog this season with three outright upsets in their last six games as one. VanVleet is listed as questionable to return on Thursday.
Grizzlies Player Prop: Desmond Bane UNDER 18.5 Points (-127)
Desmond Bane returned to action last Friday after missing over a month with a toe sprain. Bane has been limited to 25 minutes per game in his three games since coming back and has averaged only 13.3 points per game. The talented young shooting guard will get back on track eventually, but the Raptors should be able to hold him below 18.5 points.
Raptors Player Prop: Pascal Siakam OVER 25.5 Points (-113)
Pascal Siakam is enjoying a breakout season on offense this year, averaging a career-high 26.6 points per game. He has scored at least 26 points in each of his last five games and has averaged 35.8 points over that stretch. Look for Siakam to keep rolling with another strong performance on Thursday night.
Grizzlies: Keys to Win
While both the Grizzlies and Raptors rank very similarly on defense this season, Memphis has been the significantly better team on offense. Whether it’s Desmond Bane getting back on track or someone else stepping up, the offense behind Ja Morant needs to get rolling for Memphis to win as a Grizzlies vs Raptors prediction on the road.
Raptors: Keys to Win
Toronto went 3-0 ATS on its last road trip with excellent play on defense, allowing only 105.7 points per game in those three games. The Raptors will need to play well on defense to win as a Grizzlies vs Raptors pick on Thursday, especially if Fred VanVleet is out or limited due to his back injury.
