Offensive Depth Shines For Heat
Miami got back into the win column on Wednesday, picking up a 119-98 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on the road. After trailing 31-28 in the first quarter, the Heat outscored the Trail Blazers by eight points in each of the final three quarters to cruise to the win. It was a well-rounded offensive effort as six scorers finished with at least 14 points, led by Bam Adebayo, who had 18.
The Heat relied heavily on their long-range shooting on Wednesday, draining a season-high 15 three-pointers while shooting nearly 40 percent from beyond the arc. Kyle Lowry, who scored 17 points for the third time this season, led the team with five treys.
Warriors Get Whipped By Booker And The Suns
The Warriors were blown out by the Phoenix Suns in their last outing on Tuesday, falling 134-105. Devin Booker led all scorers with 34 points for the Suns while Steph Curry topped the Warriors with just 21. Five others finished in double digits for Golden State but the Warriors simply couldn’t stop the Suns, who outscored them by 23 points in the second half.
Tuesday’s contest was a fiery one, with Klay Thompson getting ejected for the first time in his NBA career. The Warriors guard picked up two technical fouls during the third quarter after altercations with both Booker and Mikal Bridges. Thompson is averaging just 11 points in 22 minutes per game this season.
Heat: Keys To Victory
The Heat won their last game thanks to a strong all-around effort – seven players had at least 20 minutes on the court and seven finished with a plus/minus of +10 or better. If they can get contributions like that again, Miami could cause problems for a Golden State squad that’s been porous defensively.
Warriors: Keys To Victory
The Warriors were uncharacteristically poor on the defensive end in Tuesday’s loss, though that trend has been a common theme so far this season. Golden State is allowing 124 points per game, the second-worst mark in the NBA. They’ll have to tighten up if they’re going to start racking up more wins.
