Strong Team Effort Helps Heat Win Game 5

After losing two straight to let the Sixers back into the series, the Heat steamrolled Philadelphia in Game 5 with a 120-85 win. Jimmy Butler (23 points) had his lowest-scoring performance since Game 2 but got plenty of offensive support as six others scored in double digits for Miami – a big change from the usual trend we’ve seen in this series.

While no one had a standout performance offensively for the Heat, they got just enough from basically everyone on the roster. Meanwhile, Miami held Philly to just 85 points – the fewest the Heat have allowed since a 99-82 win over the Sixers on March 5, and the fewest the 76ers have scored since that same game.

Kyle Lowry (hamstring) is questionable for Thursday’s matchup.

76ers Fall Flat And Now Face Elimination

The Sixers were simply outmatched in Game 5 as nothing really went right for them at either end of the court. Joel Embiid led the team with just 17 points while James Harden (14 points) and Tobias Harris (12 points) were the only others to score 10-plus points in the loss.

Philadelphia shot just 36.5 percent from the field and 28.1 percent from three-point range, with Embiid (7-for-12) being the only 76ers player to hit more than 50 percent of his shots. Their chances were already looking bleak with a 15-point deficit heading into the fourth quarter, but once the Heat went on a 12-0 run to start the final frame, it was clearly game over.

Heat vs 76ers Pick & Insights

Heat: Keys To Cover

There are several ways that Miami could win this series: either Butler pops off and puts the team on his back, or the Heat spread out the scoring and keep the Sixers defense off balance. Coupled with their elite defense, the Heat will be hard to stop in Game 6.

76ers: Keys To Cover

It’s do-or-die for the 76ers, which means it’s time for the big boys to step up. The banged-up Embiid is averaging just 19.7 points per game in the series – he’ll have to be much better and likely have his best performance since the first round if Philadelphia is going to stay alive.
