Milwaukee News & Notes

What a difference one game can make. Atlanta stole a 116-113 win in Game 1 as 8-point underdogs behind Trae Young’s 48-point and 11-assist performance. But just two nights later, Milwaukee blew Atlanta out of the water in a 125-91 win that was over at the half after a remarkable 43-17 second quarter left the Bucks entering halftime with a 77-45 lead.

The truth to this series probably lies somewhere between these two games. Trae Young isn’t likely to go just 1-for-8 from three-point range and be held to only 15 points again in this series. Emulating Game 1’s performance will be tough for Young though, too. While this series is far from over, Milwaukee’s emphatic response to the upset in Game 2 seems to have set the tone for the rest of the series as it heads back to Atlanta.

Atlanta News & Notes

Game 2 should be easy enough for Atlanta to put in the rear-view mirror as an off-night and be ready to move on to this one. The issue for the Hawks however is going to be finding a path to three more wins in this series. Wednesday’s Game 1 went about as well as it could with Young’s 48 points and with John Collins and Clint Capela combining for 35 points and 34 rebounds. Despite that incredible effort, the Hawks won by only three points.

How good will Young have to be to beat this Milwaukee team again? The Bucks were able to survive a Herculean effort from Kevin Durant to go 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS in the final five games of their second round series agianst the Brooklyn Nets. Young’s best may or may not be enough to give Atlanta a chance in this series, but it’s the minimum the Hawks will need to have a shot.

Betting Pick: Milwaukee -4

The wins in this series likely won’t come as easy as they did on Friday night for the Bucks. Still, Milwaukee is the clearly superior team, and Atlanta’s home court here isn’t enough to change that.
