Strong Team Effort Leads Bucks Past Knicks
The Bucks got back into the win column on Monday with a 111-107 victory over the New York Knicks. Giannis Antetokounmpo had 22 points to lead Milwaukee while adding 10 rebounds and six others finished in double digits in the win. Jalen Brunson dropped 44 points for New York but only two other Knicks had more than four points in a losing effort.
Milwaukee has not been a great offensive team this season, ranking 19th in the NBA in points per game (112.4). However, they’ve dropped even further in January, scoring just 108.4 points per contest so far. Part of that has been a slight decline in scoring from both Antetokounmpo and Jrue Holiday, but it’s also been the absence of Khris Middleton, who’s been sidelined since December 15 with a knee injury.
Young Leads Hawks Past Clippers
The Hawks were victorious on Sunday as they defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 112-108. Trae Young led the way with 30 points while De’Andre Hunter added 20 for Atlanta. Kawhi Leonard had 29 points to top Los Angeles with Ivica Zubac (17 points, 18 rebounds) posting a double-double in the loss.
The Hawks haven’t been as elite offensively as they were last season, ranking 11th in points per game (115.3), but they’ve still got plenty of talent in Young, Dejounte Murray and Bogdan Bogdanovic, among others. Rather, it’s their defense that’s held them back as the Hawks are surrendering 116.4 points per game – the 22nd-best mark in the league. Atlanta has allowed 123.6 points per game over its last seven contests, which certainly isn’t a recipe for success.
Bucks Player Prop: Antetokounmpo OVER 35 Points (+112)
Antetokounmpo has slowed down over his last two outings, scoring just 31 points combined, but the Bucks star was on fire prior to that, scoring 30-plus in six of eight contests – a span that included a 55-point performance and four of 40-plus points. Antetokounmpo should have plenty of room against a weak Hawks defense so look for him to hit the OVER in this one.
Hawks Player Prop: Young OVER 29 Points (+117)
Young has been consistent all season long, hovering right around the 28-point mark on the season. The Hawks point guard has scored at least 29 in seven of his last 10 outings, so there’s a pretty good chance he hits the OVER vs Milwaukee.
Bucks: Keys To Victory
A Bucks win usually coincides with a big performance from Antetokounmpo, but he got plenty of help last game from players like Brook Lopez, Joe Ingles and Holiday, who scored at least 15 points each. If Antetokounmpo has a good night and gets similar levels of support, the Bucks should come out on top.
Hawks: Keys To Victory
Scoring shouldn’t be a concern for the Hawks as Young can go toe to toe with Antetokounmpo while they also have plenty of other options to get buckets. Atlanta’s focus in this matchup should be on the defensive end, where they’ll want to stop the bleeding after a horrible last couple weeks. If they can do that, they’ll have a shot at the win.
