Antetokounmpo’s Triple-Double Helps Bucks Take Game 1
Jrue Holiday stepped up with 25 points and nine boards while Giannis Antetokounmpo (24 points, 13 rebounds, 12 assists) had a triple-double to help Milwaukee beat Boston 101-89 in Game 1.
It was a big road win for the Bucks, who were without Khris Middleton and George Hill. Antetokounmpo was all over the floor, as usual, but got just enough offensive support as Holiday had 25 or more points for the second time in these playoffs while Bobby Portis and Grayson Allen also finished in double digits. Milwaukee also held Boston to just 33.3 percent shooting from the field, while forcing the Celtics into 18 turnovers compared to 13 for the Bucks.
Middleton (knee) and Hill (abdomen) are out for Game 2.
Celtics Struggle Offensively In Game 1
The Celtics came up short offensively in Game 1 as they mustered just 89 points. Jayson Tatum led the scoring with 21 points while no other Celtics player had more than 12. It was Boston’s lowest-scoring effort since December 29, a 91-82 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.
After being the only team to complete a sweep in the first round, this loss should serve as a bit of a wake-up call for the Celtics. While Tatum scored 20 or more for the fourth time in five postseason games, Jaylen Brown had just 12 – his lowest-scoring outing of the playoffs and lowest total since March 1.
Marcus Smart (quad) is questionable for Tuesday’s matchup.
Bucks vs Celtics Pick & Insights
Bucks: Keys To Cover
Antetokounmpo is a lock to show up for the Bucks but they’ll need another big performance from a secondary scorer to take Game 2. Holiday was that guy in Game 1, but he hasn’t posted back-to-back 20-point games since March 24. He’ll likely need to step up again to get Milwaukee another win.
Celtics: Keys To Cover
The Celtics had a rare off-night on offense after having their way with the Brooklyn Nets in the first round. Boston will need a bounce-back performance from Brown, who is averaging over 20 points per game in the playoffs, and probably an even bigger effort from Tatum.
