Sportsbook Odds Analysis

The Nets opened as 3.5-point home favorites and have been bet up slightly to Brooklyn -4. The total for Game 1 opened at 241 points, but action on the UNDER has moved the line down to 239 points. Milwaukee is 8-4 ATS in its last 12 games against Brooklyn.

Milwaukee News & Notes

Giannis Antetokounmpo recorded a triple-double with 20 points, 15 assists and 12 rebounds to help lead the Bucks to a 120-103 blowout win over the Miami Heat in Game 4 last Saturday. Milwaukee needed overtime to defeat the Heat in Game 1, but the rest of the series was a breeze for the Bucks as they crushed Miami 132-98 in Game 2 and 113-84 in Game 3.

After sweeping the Heat out of the first round, the Bucks now sit at 50-26 SU and 35-41 ATS in 2021. This team has for the most part flown under the radar with the Nets and the Philadelphia 76ers getting most of the attention in the Eastern Conference this season. Giannis Antetokounmpo has plenty of regular season accolades on his resume including back-to-back MVP awards in 2018-19 and 2019-20; but he’s still looking for his first trip to the NBA Finals.

Brooklyn News & Notes

The Nets had a 7-0 SU and ATS winning streak snapped in Game 3 of their first-round series against the Boston Celtics in a 125-119 loss. Brooklyn responded to that loss with authority, beating the Celtics 141-126 in Game 4 and then finishing up the series at home with a 123-109 win. With their win in Game 5, the Nets improved to 6-0 SU and ATS over their last six games at home.

Kevin Durant averaged 32.6 points per game in the first round. James Harden had 27.8 points and 10.6 assists per game against Boston and Kyrie Irving averaged 24.8 points per game as well. This trio has not shown any signs of trouble working together and is going to be extremely tough to slow down as long as they are healthy.

Betting Pick: Milwaukee +4

Both of these teams are playing great coming into this series, and both will likely spend Game 1 feeling each other out. In what should be a close and competitive series opener, the Bucks have some value with the points in this spot.
