Antetokounmpo Leads Bucks Past 76ers
The Bucks topped the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday, winning 118-116 thanks to a last-second block from Giannis Antetokounmpo on Joel Embiid. Antetokounmpo was a force all game, scoring 40 points while adding 14 rebounds to lead the Bucks in both categories.
Milwaukee’s last outing was likely a preview of an eventual second- or third-round playoff series, as well as a reminder that Antetokounmpo still has a place in the conversation for MVP.
The Bucks, who sit one game back of the first-place Miami Heat, still have a shot at the top spot in the Eastern Conference, but no matter where they finish, they’ll like their chances to repeat as NBA champions.
Antetokounmpo (knee) is listed as probable for Thursday’s game.
Nets Win In Irving’s Second Game Back At Barclays Center
The Nets got back into the win column on Tuesday with a 130-123 triumph over the lowly Detroit Pistons. Kevin Durant went off for 41 points and 11 boards to lead Brooklyn while five others finished in double digits for the Nets.
Brooklyn got some good news last week when New York City lifted its vaccine mandate on athletes, meaning that Kyrie Irving would be allowed to play at Barclays Center for the first time this season.
Since the mandate was lifted, Irving has played two home games, averaging 20 points and 7.5 assists in those contests.
Bucks vs Nets Pick & Insights
Bucks: Keys To Cover
Milwaukee has gone 11-3 SU over its last 14 contests in a push for first place in the Eastern Conference. As always, the Bucks’ success has been driven by Antetokounmpo, who is averaging 34.3 points and 11.8 rebounds over his last eight games. With Giannis playing so well and the rest of the Bucks offense clicking along, the Bucks should pick up another win.
Nets: Keys To Cover
Brooklyn will hope that Durant serves as their counter to Antetokounmpo, while Irving should be able to outscore any of Milwaukee’s secondary options. While it certainly won’t be necessary for a Nets win, we are only a few weeks removed from 60- and 50-point efforts from Irving, who could very well be the X factor in this one.
