Expect More Fireworks in Wolves-Warriors Rematch
The Golden State Warriors would love to find some consistency for the first time this season, while the Minnesota Timberwolves would just be happy with a win. The Western Conference rivals square off for the second straight game Wednesday night at Chase Center, with the Warriors (9-8 SU, 8-9 ATS) riding high following a 130-108 rout of the Wolves (4-12 SU, 7-9 ATS) in the last meeting.
Sportsbook Odds Analysis
Golden State opens Wednesday’s rematch as an 8-point favorite, a half-point lower than the final spread for Monday’s first meeting. The total opened at 227.5 but has since risen a half-point.
Minnesota News & Notes
Those back-to-back wins to open the 2020-21 campaign are now a distant memory to Timberwolves fans and bettors who have seen the team lose 12 of 14 entering Wednesday’s action.
The T-Wolves were hopelessly outgunned last time out with star forward Karl-Anthony Towns still sidelined due to COVID-19 and team scoring leader D’Angelo Russell missing the game with a quad injury.
Minnesota is now 6-14 SU in the last 20 head-to-head meetings – and halting that trend will be all the more difficult without Russell, who’s considered questionable for Wednesday.
If he’s out, daily fantasy players can once again look to guard Malik Beasley, who broke out for 30 points and seven rebounds in the prior meeting and is still reasonably priced across all major DFS sites.
Golden State News & Notes
While it wasn’t intended as a shot across the bow, Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins had plenty of complimentary things to say about his new team following Monday’s drubbing of his former club.
Wiggins, taken first overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2014 and promptly shipped to Minnesota, praised his new team’s “winning culture” while saying frankly: “They’re a championship team.”
Wiggins is starting to come into his own in California, ranking second on the team with 17.8 points per game while shooting 49.7 percent in January – nearly 13 points higher than his December success rate.
That said, the only player on this team worth your DFS consideration is Steph Curry, who has seen his price soar but still has the kind of ceiling that makes him a GPP must.
Betting Pick: OVER 228 (-110)
The Warriors and Timberwolves both rank inside the top five in pace – and while Minnesota is far less effective offensively, the extra possessions still make the OVER more likely in Wednesday’s rematch.
