Ingram Scores 30 As Pelicans Tie Up The Series
The Pelicans knotted up the series at 2-2 with a 119-103 win over the Suns in Game 4. Brandon Ingram had another great game with 30 points to lead all scorers while Jonas Valanciunas (26 points, 15 rebounds) posted a double-double.
Ingram has been an integral part of New Orleans’ success early on in the series, averaging 29.8 points per game through the first four contests. CJ McCollum had a relatively quiet night with 18 points but he’s provided a powerful one-two punch alongside Ingram with 24 points per game in these playoffs.
Rookie Herb Jones was tasked with defending Chris Paul and executed his job to perfection in Game 4, holding the Suns point guard to just four points in the contest.
Paul Struggles In Game 4 Loss
The Suns will have to get used to life without Devin Booker as the team’s top scorer missed his second game of the series with a hamstring injury. In Game 3, it was Paul and Deandre Ayton who stepped up in Booker’s absence, but only Ayton (23 points) kept up his pace in Game 4.
Paul especially struggled in Game 4 with just four points and 11 assists on 2-of-8 shooting from the field. The point guard had 28 assists and zero turnovers through Games 2 and 3 but committed three turnovers in Game 4, while the Pelicans as a team committed just eight in the contest.
Booker (hamstring) remains out indefinitely.
Pelicans vs Suns Pick & Insights
Pelicans: Keys To Cover
The Pelicans got balanced scoring in Game 4 as their starters combined for 89 points, proving that they’ve got more than just Ingram and McCollum. If they can continue to spread out the scoring while limiting Paul, New Orleans has a real shot at another upset.
Suns: Keys To Cover
Paul had arguably been the Suns’ best player in the series until Game 4 as he was averaging 25 points and 12.7 assists through the first three games of the playoffs. Without Booker, Phoenix needs Paul more than ever and he’ll need to get back to form if they’re going to win Game 5.
