Undermanned Pelicans Shock Mavericks

The Pelicans picked up a surprising win over the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday, eking out a 113-111 victory at home. Playing without Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram, it was Trey Murphy III who stepped up with a team-high 22 points while seven others scored in double digits for New Orleans. Luka Doncic was unstoppable for the Mavs, scoring 37 points and adding 11 boards, but the Pelicans held on for the win.

New Orleans will likely be undermanned again on Friday as Ingram (concussion) remains out indefinitely while Williamson (hip), Jose Alvarado (back) and CJ McCollum (finger) are all listed as questionable.

Booker And The Suns Roll Past Warriors

The Suns made a statement on Tuesday, blowing out the Golden State Warriors 134-105 in an early-season clash between two Western Conference titans. Devin Booker had the standout performance of the night with 34 points to lead all scorers while Deandre Ayton (16 points, 14 rebounds) was a monster on the glass. Steph Curry had a relatively quiet night with just 21 points to go along with eight assists and seven boards.

Booker has been on a mission through his first four contests of the season, averaging a whopping 32.5 points per game – nearly six more than his scoring rate in 2021-22. The Suns star is tied for fifth in league scoring while his mark of 48 percent from three-point range ranks second behind only Ja Morant (60 percent) among the NBA’s top 15 scorers.

Pelicans: Keys To Win

The Pelicans have started this season on fire offensively, averaging 122 points per game, which ranks third in the NBA. New Orleans will potentially be without three of its top five scorers on Friday, though, so Murphy, Jonas Valanciunas and others will need to have big performances to keep up with the high-flying Suns.

Suns: Keys To Win

The Suns might just be the perfect match for the Pelicans as Phoenix is giving up just 104.5 points per game, the third-best mark in the league. Over their last two games, the Suns have held the talented Warriors and Clippers to just 105 and 95 points, respectively. We’ll see if they can also contain the Pelicans on Friday night.
