Knicks Lose 5th Straight In 1st Game Of Home-And-Home
The Knicks fell 125-109 on Sunday to the 76ers in their first meeting of the two-game set. RJ Barrett and Evan Fournier scored 24 points each to lead the team while Julius Randle added 16 points and 10 boards for a double-double.
New York simply hasn’t had enough firepower this season, ranking 27th in the NBA in scoring at 105 points per game. With a record of 1-9 over their last 10 contests, things aren’t getting any better for the Knicks, who seem to have more or less accepted their fate as a bottom-10 team through the home stretch of the season.
Derrick Rose (ankle), Nerlens Noel (foot), Kemba Walker (knee) and Quentin Grimes (knee) are out for Wednesday’s contest.
Embiid, Harden Impress In Big Win Over New York
The 76ers won their third straight game on Sunday with the victory over the Knicks as Joel Embiid (37 points) led the charge. A rejuvenated James Harden dropped 29 points, 16 assists and 10 rebounds for a triple-double in his second game since joining Philadelphia, while Tyrese Maxey added 21 points in the win.
Everyone knows what Embiid is capable of, but the real question for the Sixers down the stretch is what they will get out of Harden, who was reportedly unhappy in Brooklyn. It’s still early but Harden has lived up to all the expectations so far, averaging 28 points, 14 assists and nine boards through two games with the 76ers.
Knicks vs 76ers Pick & Insights
Knicks: Keys To Cover
The Knicks weren’t able to contain the 76ers on Sunday, but their defense may be their only hope of keeping tonight’s game close. Despite their position in the standings, New York owns the eighth-best defense in the NBA, allowing just 107 points per game. If the Knicks can hold Philadelphia to around that number, they should be able to at least cover the spread.
76ers: Keys To Cover
Embiid and Harden have shown great chemistry already through two contests together, averaging a combined 63.5 points per game. Add in depth scoring from Maxey and Tobias Harris and it seems almost impossible to stop this new-look Sixers squad.
