The Phoenix Suns host the New York Knicks on Friday night.

Knicks vs Suns Odds & Pick: Depleted Phoenix Tries To Maintain Dominance

Devin Booker and Chris Paul are out of the lineup for Phoenix (50-12 SU, 34-28 ATS), but it might not matter against the ice-cold Knicks (25-37, 26-36). The Suns have won and covered their last seven meetings with New York, which is 1-10 ATS in its last 11 games and 3-16 SU in its last 19.

Even without Paul and Booker, the Suns opened as 6-point favorites — two more than they were favored by with the all-star duo in the lineup when they visited New York in November. Phoenix won that game 118-97 to move to 16-4-1 ATS in the last 21 meetings.

Randle Calls Out Knicks’ Defensive Effort After Blowing Another Big Lead

As New York’s playoff hopes continue to slip away, the Knicks’ defensive effort seems to be slipping along with them. New York allowed 68 second-half points in Wednesday’s 123-108 loss at Philadelphia.

“I just think we got to be fighting on the defensive end,” Julius Randle told the New York Post after the Knicks went OVER the total for the seventh time in their last eight games. “It starts with us. We’re not getting stops at critical moments. Teams are getting on runs.”

Many of those runs have come in the third quarter, derailing some solid work by the Knicks earlier in games. New York has blown double-digit leads in five of its last six losses, including a 16-point advantage Wednesday in Philly, so you might want to consider fading the Knicks in live betting instead of making any pre-game Knicks vs Suns predictions.

Suns’ Depth Shining Through Without All-Star Backcourt Of Booker, Paul

For the second straight game, the Suns will be without their all-star backcourt duo of Paul and Booker. Paul could be out till the end of the regular season with a fractured thumb, while Booker is in COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

The Suns didn’t need either of them in Wednesday’s 120-90 blowout of the Trail Blazers that snapped a two-game losing streak and was their first cover in their last five home games. Cameron Payne started at point guard in his first game back from a wrist sprain and six different Suns had at least 10 points, including 20 from Cameron Johnson off the bench.

Knicks vs Suns Pick & Insights

Knicks: Keys To Cover

If Randle’s criticism of the Knicks’ defensive effort sparks his teammates to work harder at that end of the floor, New York should be able to stifle Phoenix’s short-handed attack. If you’re looking to back the Knicks in this spot, a first-half play might be the safer Knicks vs Suns prediction since New York has seen so many leads slip away down the stretch.

Suns: Keys To Cover

Teamwork and depth helped the Suns overcome Booker and Paul’s absence on Wednesday, and they’ll need to maintain that focus and intensity tonight. Phoenix won its first game after the Paul injury last month but then lost its next two outings, allowing an average of 117.5 points.
