Gilgeous-Alexander Leads Thunder Past Mavs
The Thunder picked up their second straight win on Thursday as they topped the Los Angeles Clippers 118-110. Trailing 60-53 at halftime, the Thunder outscored the Clips by 15 in the second half to earn the victory on home court. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led OKC with 24 points while Luguentz Dort (21 points) also had 20-plus.
Gilgeous-Alexander has been far and away the standout performer for the Thunder so far in this early season. The point guard is averaging 29.3 points per game through five contests – just about double the scoring rate of the next-closest player on the team, and five points higher than his average last season.
Doncic Drops 41 Points In Overtime Win
The Mavericks outlasted the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday, picking up a 129-125 victory in overtime on the back of another phenomenal performance from Luka Doncic. The Mavs star led all players with 41 points while adding 14 assists and 11 boards for a triple-double. Meanwhile, Kyrie Irving had 39 points while Kevin Durant had 37 for Brooklyn.
Doncic, who has gotten off to a blistering start to the season, became the 10th player in the history of the NBA to record at least three 40-point triple-doubles. Following his 41-point performance, the 23-year-old now leads the league in scoring with 36.3 points per game.
Thunder Player Prop: Gilgeous-Alexander OVER 25.5 Points (-105)
The Thunder will be tough on Saturday against a much stronger opponent, but that should only motivate Gilgeous-Alexander to step up to the challenge. The point guard is getting -105 to hit the OVER on 25.5 points – a number he’s topped three times this season.
Mavericks Player Prop: Doncic OVER 30.5 Points (-125)
Don’t overthink this one – Doncic is averaging more than 36 points per game while his season low is 32. The Mavericks point guard should be a lock to hit the OVER on 30.5 points, especially against a weak Thunder squad.
Thunder vs Mavericks Picks & Insights
Thunder: Keys To Victory
If the Thunder are going to keep this one close and have a chance to win, they’ll need to find a way to slow down Doncic – obviously much easier said than done. Doncic is averaging 13 made field goals per game on 26 attempts – if they can force him to pass it off and limit his shots, maybe OKC can keep it tight.
Mavericks: Keys To Victory
The game plan for Dallas is simple: let Doncic do his thing. He’s already terrorized stronger teams in the Suns, Grizzlies, Pelicans and Nets, so it’s hard to imagine that the Thunder will be able to slow him down.
