Thunder Have an Excellent Track Record in Philly
The 76ers are one of the league’s most dominant home teams this season and opened as 7-point favorites Monday against Oklahoma City. But Philadelphia is just 9-9 ATS at home, the Thunder are great against the spread and they’ve dominated the head-to-head matchup — can bettors trust Philadelphia to cover?
Sportsbook Odds Analysis
The 76ers are 16-2 at home, outscoring opponents by almost 10 points per game. But in facing an Oklahoma team that has won 10 straight meetings in Philadelphia, the home Sixers only opened as 7-point favorites. The total opened very low at 214 points, as both teams rank high defensively while sitting in the lower portion of the NBA in offensive stats.
Oklahoma City News & Notes
Following their 121-106 win against Cleveland on Saturday, the Thunder are now 9-1 SU and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games, including five straight ATS wins.
Powered by guards Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Dennis Schroder, who are averaging 23.5 and 22.9 points per game over this stretch, the Thunder have also won four straight road games, both SU and ATS.
While Oklahoma City’s road streak, and overall great play, will be tested against a Philadelphia team that is one of the league’s toughest teams to play at home, the Thunder have won 19 of their last 20 games SU against the Sixers.
The Thunder also are not intimidated by being relatively big road underdogs, as they have covered the spread in eight of their last nine road games — and they’re 5-1 ATS in their last six games against Philadelphia.
Philadelphia News & Notes
After a four-game road trip, in which they went 0-4 SU and 1-3 ATS, the 76ers are happy to be playing back in front of their home crowd. Arguably the league’s most Jekyll-and-Hyde team, Philadelphia is a dominant 16-2 SU at home this season … but only 7-12 SU on the road.
Philadelphia has also been a middling team ATS: the 76ers are 16-20-1 overall this season and just 9-9 at home, despite having a stellar straight-up record. While they boast a middle-of-the-pack offense and the seventh-ranked defense, the Sixers have actually seen their game totals go OVER in five straight home games and in eight of their last 12 games overall.
It could be a lower-scoring affair on Monday, however, as the 76ers face an Oklahoma City team that is just 20th in scoring but also sits in the top third of the league defensively.
Betting Pick: Thunder +7
The Thunder are hot, they’re ATS darlings and they’ve absolutely dominated Philadelphia head to head. They may not pull out the SU win, but I feel confident they’ll keep it close enough to cover the spread.
