76ers On The Verge Of Longest Winning Streak In 15 Years
For the first time in what seems like forever, the Philadelphia 76ers are actually good. So good, in fact, that the team is riding a seven-game winning streak entering their game against the Washington Wizards Sunday. If the 76ers pull off the win in Washington, they will have won eight straight games for the first time since 2003.
Interestingly, the 76ers current winning streak started when they defeated the Wizards 115-102 in Philly back on February 7. That contest was dominated by Joel Embiid who recorded 27 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks – all of which were team-highs for the game. Embiid is expected to play in Sunday, marking just the third time this season the big man will be playing in the second-half of back-to-backs.
The Wizards are not an easy victory though with the team going a stellar 8-3 in their 11 games since John Wall was put on the shelf with a knee injury. One of the biggest reasons has been the play of Otto Porter Jr, who has stepped up by averaging 18.5 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists while shooting 53.7% from the field during Wall's absence.
