Harden Steps Up As Philly Ties The Series
James Harden dropped 31 points and nine assists to help the Sixers tie the series at 2-2 on Sunday. Joel Embiid added 24 points and 11 rebounds in his second game back from injury while six 76ers finished in double digits in the 116-108 win.
Harden’s 31-point performance marked his highest total of the playoffs and his first 30-point game since March 29 when he had 32 against the Milwaukee Bucks. The 32-year-old guard shot 60 percent (6-for-10) from beyond the arc to lead the Sixers, who went 16-for-33 as a team. Harden is averaging 19.8 points per game in these playoffs but if he can step it up like he did on Sunday, Philadelphia will be that much more dangerous.
Embiid (orbital/thumb) is questionable for Tuesday’s matchup.
Defense Lets Heat Down In Game 4 Loss
It was another one-man show for the Heat on Sunday as Jimmy Butler scored 40 points in a losing effort. Bam Adebayo added 21 points while no other starter for Miami finished in double digits.
While offense was the main issue in Miami’s Game 3 loss, it was defense that brought the Heat down in Game 4. They held the 76ers to just 98 points per game through the first three matchups of the series but made things far too easy for the home team in the fourth as Philadelphia shot 54.4 percent from the field and 48.5 percent from three-point range.
Gabe Vincent (knee), Kyle Lowry (hamstring), Tyler Herro (ankle), Max Strus (hamstring), PJ Tucker (calf) and Caleb Martin (ankle) are questionable for Game 5.
76ers vs Heat Pick & Insights
76ers: Keys To Cover
The Sixers demonstrated just how dangerous they can be when they get contributions from both Embiid and Harden. The duo combined for 55 points in Game 4, while also getting plenty of help from secondary scorers like Tyrese Maxey and Tobias Harris. If Embiid and Harden both go off again, Philly could take its first lead of the series.
Heat: Keys To Cover
The Heat have relied on their excellent defense all season long as they allowed just 104.9 points per game to rank third in the NBA. That number has fallen even lower in the playoffs to just 99.7 points against – second behind Milwaukee. If the Heat can find a way to limit Philadelphia like they did through the first three games, they’ll have a good chance to regain the series lead.
