Sixers Eyeing a California Sweep in Sac-Town
The Philadelphia 76ers have won seven of their last ten games including a big win over the defending champions in Oakland on Thursday. With two top 10 offenses and two bottom ten defenses clashing in this game, oddsmakers are expecting plenty of scoring with the total set at 233.5. The Sixers opened laying three points to the home side. Most early money is coming in on Philly.
Sixers Scored 119.7 Points Per Game in January
January was easily the 76ers best offensive month of the season by far. Their 119.7 points per game were a full four points better than their November output and seven points better than the 112 and change they scored in both October and December. Only Golden State and OKC scored more points in January.
That offensive success is reflected in their 11-4 record during January, a mark that has propelled them into third place in the Eastern Conference and among the few contenders to make it to the NBA Finals.
In addition to the strong offensive month, Philly allowed fewer than 112 points per game for the second month in a row.
Will the Sixers Have to Adjust Their Style Tonight?
Thursday in Oakland, the 76ers shot 37 three-point attempts, with 15 of them coming out of the hands of JJ Redick and Wilson Chandler. With both guys out of the lineup tonight, we can probably expect a few more lane drives by Joel Embiid, Jimmy Butler and Ben Simmons.
Prop bettors should keep an eye on Landry Shamet’s points O/U as he was three-for-four beyond the arc vs Golden State and will most certainly play more than the 16 minutes he got in that game.
My Best Bet
I’m taking OVER 233.5 in this game as we’ve got two top ten offenses, two of the top eight three-point shooting teams and two of the top seven teams in pace. Add into that mix two of the bottom 10 scoring defenses in the league and I think we are in for a shootout tonight in Sacramento.
If you’re looking for a side lean, how about Sacramento covering the points? Philly is without two of its starters and is closing out a four-game road trip. Sacramento is on the second game of a long homestand and is coming in with good home numbers and a healthy roster.
