Suns In Position To Extend Winning Streak

The Suns topped the Brooklyn Nets 121-111 on Tuesday to extend their winning streak to 11 games. Devin Booker dropped 35 points to lead all scorers, Mikal Bridges had 27 points and Chris Paul added 27 points plus 14 assists for a double-double.

Phoenix, which posted a franchise-record 18-game win streak earlier this season, will have a good shot at extending its current run over the next couple of games against Atlanta and the Washington Wizards, but will face tougher competition next week in the Chicago Bulls, Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks. If the Suns can weather next week’s storm, they’ll have a real chance at setting a new franchise best.

The Suns could also be getting some more help on Thursday as Deandre Ayton (ankle) and Jae Crowder (wrist) are probable to return. Meanwhile, Abdel Nader (knee), Landry Shamet (ankle) and Cameron Payne (wrist) are out.

Hawks’ Seven-Game Win Streak Ended By Raptors

The Hawks’ seven-game win streak was snapped on Monday as they fell 106-100 to the Toronto Raptors. Gary Trent Jr. led Toronto with 31 points while Kevin Huerter topped Atlanta with 26 after star point guard Trae Young was a late scratch.

Young had been Atlanta’s leader throughout the seven-game run, averaging 28.4 points and nine assists per contest over that span before missing Monday’s matchup. The all-star ranks fifth in NBA scoring and third in assists.

De’Andre Hunter (ankle) is probable for Thursday’s matchup while Young (shoulder) is questionable.

Suns vs Hawks Pick & Insights

Suns: Keys To Cover

Phoenix is the undisputed top team in the NBA right now and for good reason, boasting the third-ranked offense (113 points per game) and seventh-ranked defense (105.1 points against per game). The Hawks have been porous defensively themselves, allowing 111.2 points per contest – an easy weakness for the Suns to exploit as Booker will look to score 30-plus again.

Hawks: Keys To Cover

Atlanta is already in tough against the league’s best team but things will look even bleaker if Young misses his second straight game. Realistically the only way this contest stays close is if Young does play and goes off for 25 or 30 points to keep pace with Booker. The Hawks will need to outscore the Suns in this one because they won’t be able to shut Phoenix down.
