Suns Respond After End Of 11-Game Winning Streak
The Suns had their 11-game win streak snapped on Thursday by the Atlanta Hawks but responded with a victory in their last outing, beating the Washington Wizards 95-80 on Saturday. Deandre Ayton was efficient in his third game back from injury, scoring 20 points and pulling down 16 rebounds for a double-double in just 24 minutes of work to lead the Suns.
Devin Booker had an uncharacteristically quiet night with just 11 points, seven rebounds and five assists in 30 minutes on the court. The all-star was averaging 33.3 points per game in the previous seven contests, so look for him to get back on track in Monday’s matchup.
Abdel Nader (knee) and Landry Shamet (ankle) are out for Monday’s game.
Short-Handed Bulls Come Up Short vs 76ers
The Bulls fell 119-108 to the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday despite a monster 45-point effort from DeMar DeRozan. Nikola Vucevic and Javonte Green scored 23 and 17 points respectively in a game in which no other Bulls finished in double digits. Joel Embiid led the way for the Sixers, posting 40 points and 10 boards.
It was a decent effort from the Bulls’ top players, though they were missing several key players and it showed. Lonzo Ball remains out until at least mid-March following knee surgery while Zach LaVine (back) was also sidelined for the second straight game. LaVine is averaging 24.7 points per game, behind only DeRozan (26.6 points), and is listed as questionable for Monday’s contest.
Coby White (groin) is also questionable for Monday.
Suns vs Bulls Pick & Insights
Suns: Keys To Cover
The Suns are more or less at full power with Ayton back in the lineup and all five starters healthy. Phoenix picked up an easy win over the Wizards on Saturday despite a quiet night from Booker, but the Suns will likely need a lot more from their top scorer as they take on an excellent Bulls squad.
Bulls: Keys To Cover
DeRozan has been on fire lately, averaging 30.9 points per game over his last 10 contests, including a season-high 45 points on Sunday. But coming up against a tough defensive team in the Suns, DeRozan won’t be able to do it on his own. If LaVine is good to go, he’ll need to have a big night along with Vucevic, who is averaging a solid 22.5 points per game over his last 10.
