Dominant Phoenix Favored to Complete Sweep in Denver Sunday
The Phoenix Suns are 6-0 SU and ATS over their last six games including a 3-0 SU and ATS start to their best-of-seven series against the Denver Nuggets. The Suns could wrap up the series in just four games with a win this Sunday night in Denver.
Sportsbook Odds Analysis
The Nuggets opened as 1.5-point favorites at home in Game 4, but bettors have heavily favored the Suns to push this line in the other direction to make Phoenix a 3.5-point road favorite. The total in this matchup has settled in at 222 points since Sportsbook at 221.5 points. Phoenix was 3-14 SU in its previous 17 games against Denver before this series began.
Phoenix News & Notes
Thoughts that the tone of the series might shift in Denver were put to rest on Friday night as the Suns jumped out to a 37-27 lead in the first quarter and rolled to a 116-102 win. Devin Booker had 28 points and six rebounds in the win while Chris Paul added 27 points and eight assists. Paul is healthy and averaging 21.7 points and 11.3 assists per game in this series after being limited to just 9.2 points and 7.7 assists per game in the first round against the Los Angeles Lakers while battling through a shoulder injury.
Phoenix looks more and more like a legitimate NBA Championship contender with each game that passes. The Suns have been completely dominant over their current 6-0 SU and ATS run with an impressive average margin of victory of 17.8 points per game. They will be going for a sixth straight win by double-digits on Sunday.
Denver News & Notes
The Nuggets held a pre-game ceremony on Friday night to celebrate Nikola Jokic being awarded the NBA MVP award. Jokic put on an MVP-caliber performance for the home crowd during the game with 32 points, 20 rebounds and 10 assists, but it wasn’t enough to avoid falling into a 3-0 series hole. Denver has managed to score only 101.7 points per game in this series after averaging 120.8 points per game in the first round against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Denver’s fate for the 2020-21 season was sealed when Jamal Murray tore his ACL back in April. The Nuggets have a fantastic 1-2 punch to build around for the foreseeable future in Jokic and Murray, but the team needs both of them to be healthy to compete with the heavy hitters in the Western Conference. All Denver can do at this point is try to avoid the sweep with at home.
Betting Pick: Phoenix -3.5
The Suns are just too hot for the Nuggets to deal with right now. Denver’s best shot wasn’t enough on Friday night and it likely won’t be enough on Sunday night, either.
