Suns Drop Sixth Straight vs Cavaliers
The struggles continued for the Suns on Sunday as they fell 112-98 to the Cleveland Cavaliers for their sixth straight loss. Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell scored 22 each to lead the Cavs while four others had double digits for Cleveland. Duane Washington Jr. had 25 points to top Phoenix in the loss.
Phoenix has now lost nine of its last 10 outings, coinciding almost perfectly with the absence of Devin Booker, who has not played since Christmas Day after suffering a groin injury early in that contest.
The Suns offense has fallen off a cliff without their leading scorer as the team is averaging just 99.4 points per game since Booker was sidelined while going 1-6 over that span. To make matters worse, Chris Paul (hip) is also ruled out for his second straight game.
Undermanned Warriors Fall To Magic
The Warriors were handed their second straight loss on Saturday as the Orlando Magic came out on top 115-101. Paolo Banchero (25 points) and Franz Wagner (24 points) did most of the damage for Orlando while Anthony Lamb (26 points) and Jordan Poole (21 points) led Golden State in a losing effort.
Like the Suns, the Warriors have been dealing with injury woes as both Steph Curry and Klay Thompson missed Saturday’s contest. Curry has been out since mid-December with a shoulder injury and is listed as questionable for Tuesday, while Thompson missed one game with a sore knee and is probable for the matchup vs Phoenix.
Jordan Poole has stepped up in a big way in Curry’s absence, averaging 26.4 points per game since the start of December – we’ll see if he can keep that up against the Suns.
Suns: Keys To Win
The Suns are a completely decimated team heading into this matchup with Booker and Paul out plus Deandre Ayton (ankle) listed as questionable. If they’re going to beat the Warriors and finally snap their skid, they’ll either need to be exceptional defensively or get some superhuman offensive performances from unlikely heroes.
Warriors: Keys To Win
The Warriors are pretty banged up themselves but they could be getting a big boost with Curry and Thompson potentially returning to the lineup. Even without the Splash Brothers, the Dubs probably still have the edge as Poole and Anthony Lamb have both been hot while Phoenix’s offense is not.
