Spearheaded By Durant, Warriors Aren’t Missing a Beat Without Curry
No Stephen Curry, no problem for the Golden State Warriors. The Dubs, who just swept a six-game road trip despite losing their best player halfway through the excursion, are proving once again they can get the job done without a regular starter in the lineup. Golden State heads back home on Monday to host the Portland Trail Blazers.
Kevin Durant did a great job picking up the slack for Curry in the last two games of the road trip, as the veteran superstar dropped a 35-point triple-double on the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday before collecting 36 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and five blocks in a 102-98 triumph over Detroit on Friday. Draymond Green returned from a one-game absence on Friday but didn’t fare as well, going 1-for-6 from the floor but making up for it with 13 assists and six blocks.
The Trail Blazers are coming off a four-game homestand which saw them drop every game, with the latest setback coming in the form of a 124-117 loss to the Houston Rockets on Saturday. Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum are doing their part, however, as the dynamic backcourt duo combined for 63 points in the game.
This is the first time the teams have met since Golden State swept the Trail Blazers in the first round of the playoffs last spring. In the last 10 contests between the Western Conference foes, the Dubs are 10-0 SU.
