Kings Fall To Morant And The Grizzlies

The Kings took a loss in their last game, falling 118-108 to the Grizzlies on Sunday. Ja Morant carried the Grizzlies to the win with 35 points while Steven Adams had 11 points and 23 boards for a double-double. De’Aaron Fox led the Kings with 19 points and Domantas Sabonis had a double-double of his own with 18 points and 14 rebounds.

Sacramento has been an intriguing team this season – the Kings own the second-best offense in the NBA (118 points per game) without a superstar, yet they have struggled to string many wins together outside of a seven-game run in November. Since that winning streak, the Kings have gone just under .500, winning six of their last 13 outings.

Defense Falters For Jazz In Fourth Straight Loss

The Jazz were handed their fourth loss in a row Saturday as they fell 126-123 to the Miami Heat. Bam Adebayo topped Miami with 32 points while Tyler Herro scored 29, including the game-winning buzzer-beater from long range. Lauri Markkanen had a strong game with 29 points and 14 rebounds in the loss.

Defense has been the main issue for the Jazz during this four-game slide as the team is allowing 122.5 points per contest over that span. Like Sacramento, Utah owns one of the elite offenses in the NBA this season, ranking fourth with 117.3 points per game. But even with Markkanen and Jordan Clarkson combining for about 50 points a night, the Jazz have struggled to outscore their defensive flaws.

Kings Player Prop: Fox OVER 27 Points (+127)

The oddsmakers are expecting a big night from Fox with the Kings point guard averaging 23.4 points per game this season. If there is one thing going for Fox, it’s that he’ll be coming up against a Jazz team that’s been porous defensively, allowing 126 points in three of its last four contests.

Jazz Player Prop: Markkanen OVER 28 Points (+125)

Markkanen has been the model of consistency for the Jazz this season but he took yet another step in December, scoring nearly 27 points per game. The power forward has had 28 or more in four straight outings and in six of his last nine contests, so there’s a good chance he hits the OVER vs the Kings.

Kings: Keys To Win

The Kings have been scoring at will all season long and should be licking their chops heading into Utah to take on a struggling defensive squad. Sacramento has been up and down offensively over the last few weeks, scoring 111 or less in three of its last six games, but 126-plus in the other three. If the Kings bring their A-game offensively, they’ll have a shot.

Jazz: Keys To Win

Utah has lost four straight games despite scoring 122 points or more in three of those contests. Needless to say, the Jazz will need to tighten up defensively if they’re going to get back into the win column against a deep and talented Kings team.
