Mavs Are the NBA’s Best Spread Bet
The Western Conference’s 13th-place team hasn’t provided a whole lot of excitement for Dallas Mavericks fans this season, but they sure have been exciting for bettors. Dallas is 26-17 ATS this season, making the Mavs the league’s best bet. Another great bet, the 26-19 ATS San Antonio Spurs will be their opponent at the American Airlines Center in Dallas tonight. Dallas is a 1-point underdog with the total at 217.5.

Dallas Has Been Dominant on Home Court
Not only has Rick Carlisle’s team been excellent against the spread this season, but they’ve also been superb on home court, compiling a 16-5 record compared to their 4-18 mark on the road.
That mark will be tested now, however, as the Mavs are without point guard J.J. Barea after he underwent surgery for a ruptured Achilles and Dennis Smith Jr. has been away from the team with a variety of ailments, aka waiting to be traded.
That puts the ball in the hands of rookie Jalen Brunson, who played 30 minutes in the loss to Golden State on Sunday.
Spurs Have The League’s Top Outside Shooting
San Antonio makes the 275-mile trip north and has brought the NBA’s top three-point shooting team with it. San Antonio is shooting 40.2 percent from three-point land through 45 games, led by Bryn Forbes, Davis Bertans and Marco Belinelli.
Belinelli is questionable for tonight’s game as he deals with a knee injury that kept him out of Monday’s game against Charlotte. Rudy Gay, who also missed Monday’s game, is expected to return to the Spurs lineup tonight.
My Pick For This Game
I’m taking the Spurs at -1 in this one. The game is run from the point and with Dallas missing its top two point guards, that is going to make it tough against the No. 12 scoring defense of San Antonio.
The Spurs are 8-2 SU in their last 10 games against the Mavericks and are 14-6 SU and 15-5 ATS in their last 20 games. That’s good enough to get me backing Pop and the guys in silver and black.
