Dallas Can Extend Win Streak With Victory vs Spurs
The Dallas Mavericks (2-1 SU, 1-2 ATS) have won two in a row since Sportsbook the season with a loss to the Atlanta Hawks. The Mavericks will try to pick up their third straight victory Thursday night when they host the San Antonio Spurs (1-3 SU, 2-2 ATS).
Sportsbook Odds Analysis
The Mavericks opened as 6.5-point favorites in this matchup and have since been bet up slightly to Dallas -7. The total has settled in at 220 points after Sportsbook at 221.5 points. The UNDER is 6-2 in Dallas’s last eight home games against the Spurs.
San Antonio News & Notes
The Spurs appeared to be well on their way to their second win of the season leading 97-85 on Tuesday heading into the fourth quarter at home against the Los Angeles Lakers. But they were outscored 29-17 in the fourth and eventually lost 125-121 in overtime as a 2-point home favorite.
Jakob Poeltl was the leading scorer in the loss with 27 points and 14 rebounds while Dejounte Murray recorded a triple-double with 21 points, 15 assists and 12 rebounds.
San Antonio has a strong young core to build around in Poeltl, Murray, Keldon Johnson and Derrick White. It’s tough to say when it will all come together, however; the Spurs have missed the playoffs and had losing records in back-to-back years and are stuck in a very deep and competitive Western Conference.

Dallas News & Notes
Luka Doncic scored 26 points and added 14 rebounds and seven assists in Dallas’s 116-106 win at home over the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night. The Mavericks narrowly failed to cover the spread as 11-point favorites, falling to 1-4 ATS over their last five games. Kristaps Porzingis left the game with a back injury and is listed as questionable to return Thursday against the Spurs.
Doncic is off to another strong start in 2021-22, averaging 23.7 points, 11.3 rebounds and 8.7 assists per game. Many NBA fans and experts are expecting Doncic to have another MVP-caliber season to lead the Mavericks back into the playoffs.
That scenario seems likely, but the 22-year-old is going to need his supporting cast, including Porzingis and Tim Hardaway Jr., to be at their best if Dallas hopes to be a real contender.
How San Antonio Will Cover
Sixteen of the last 20 meetings between these teams have been decided by seven points or less. If San Antonio can produce another offensive effort similar to the one it had against the Lakers, the Spurs should be able to continue this trend of close games.
How Dallas Will Cover
The Mavericks have looked sharp in back-to-back wins by eight points over the Toronto Raptors and by 10 points against the Houston Rockets. Scoring shouldn’t be a problem against this Spurs team, so a cover will likely be determined by how well the team plays defensively.
