Gregg Popovich of the San Antonio Spurs walks off the court at the end of the fourth quarter of the Denver Nuggets' 108-90 win on Tuesday, April 23, 2019. The Denver Nuggets and the San Antonio Spurs faced off for game five of their first round NBA playoffs series at the Pepsi Center.

Spurs are Dogs in Mile-High Elimination Game

It would be interesting to see how many pundits had this Sportsbook round series between the San Antonio Spurs and the Denver Nuggets going to seven games, yet here we are. The Spurs won by 13 on home court in Game 6 but they’re six-point road underdogs in Game 7. The O/U is 4-2 in this series and the total opened at 209 for this game.

Standout Stats

  • Denver has not lost back-to-back games in this series. They won by nine points after losing Game 1, they won 14 points after losing Game 3. Favorites are 4-2 ATS in this series.
  • Each team is 3-3 ATS in this series while the OVER has hit in four of the last five games but in just one of the three games in Denver.
  • The Spurs are shooting 47.9 percent for the series while Denver is shooting 47.0 percent. Interestingly, despite the series having very low totals, they are two of the top six shooting teams in the playoffs.
  • Three-point shooting has been a big factor in Denver’s success in the series, however they have the No. 10 three-point percentage on home court among the 16 playoff teams.
  • Only three teams are allowing more points in the paint than San Antonio. Two of them have been eliminated – the other is Philadelphia.
  • The Spurs averaged just 98.7 points per game as the visitor in this series on 44.8 percent shooting. Their team total is set at 101.5 for Game 7.
  • Denver averaged 106 points per home game in the series on 46.7 percent shooting. Their team total is set at 107.5 points in Game 7.

My Best Bet for Spurs vs Nuggets

San Antonio +6

With the low-scoring trend in Colorado in this series and the intensity of a Game 7, I’m going to take the points with the underdog Spurs and Greg Popovich.

If you’re one of those people who believe that Demar Derozan is poison to playoff teams, then by all means, fade the Spurs in this one, but I think they’ll be riding high off of their Game 6 win and at least keep this one close until the end.

Both teams are 3-3 ATS in the series. Favorites are 4-2 ATS. The OVER has hit in four of the last five games in this series. The UNDER has hit in two of the three games in Denver.home
