Spurs Defense Crumbles Again vs Kings

The Spurs took their third straight loss on Thursday as they got blown out by the Sacramento Kings 130-112. De’Aaron Fox (28 points) and Malik Monk (26 points) did most of the damage for Sacramento, while Devin Vassell had 29 as the lone player to score 20-plus for San Antonio in the loss.

Given their record – and especially their recent string of losses – it should come as no surprise that the Spurs own the worst defense in the NBA at 120.2 points against per game. San Antonio has given up an average of 125 points through their last eight losses – a span which includes three games where they surrendered 130 or more.

Leonard Makes Return In Clips Win

The Clippers narrowly defeated the lowly Detroit Pistons on Thursday with a 96-91 win. Reggie Jackson led Los Angeles with 23 points while Paul George had a relatively quiet night with 16 points and nine boards. Bojan Bogdanovic was one of just three Pistons to score in double digits, recording 26 points in a losing effort.

Kawhi Leonard made his return to the lineup in the win, scoring six points in 25 minutes of action. Leonard had been sidelined with stiffness in his surgically repaired knee since October 23, missing the team’s last 12 games. The Clippers lost the first three games without Leonard but bounced back to go 6-3 in their last nine contests before his return.

Spurs vs Clippers Picks & Insights

Clippers: Keys To Victory

The Clippers have done well to stay afloat without Leonard and they’ll have to keep that going as the small forward will be playing restricted minutes for the foreseeable future. George, of course, has been leading the offense with 23.8 points per game but he’s been helped out by some nice depth scoring as five others are in double digits this season. Another well-rounded offensive effort should get Los Angeles the win.

Spurs: Keys To Victory

There’s only one direction for San Antonio’s defense to go and that’s up. The Spurs have been getting pummeled this month with just one win in nine tries, and most of that comes down to their abysmal defense. It’s tough to say how they’re going to turn it around but they likely won’t stand a chance if they give up 125 or more again.
