Head coach Gregg Popovich of the San Antonio Spurs talks with his player Tony Parker #9 against the Golden State Warriors in the second quarter during Game One of the first round of the 2018 NBA Playoff at ORACLE Arena on April 14, 2018 in Oakland, California.

Can the Spurs Bounce Back in Game 2 at Oracle Arena?

The Golden State Warriors endured a rough end to the regular season but bounced back in a big way in Game 1 of their first-round series with the San Antonio Spurs by hammering the Spurs 113-92 in California. Game 2 on Monday is a must-win game for the Spurs. Dating back to last year, the Warriors are 10-0 SU in their last 10 playoff games at Oracle Arena.

Sportsbook opened the Warriors as 9.5-point home favorites with a total of 205.5.

SHARK BITES
  • The Spurs are 1-9 SU in their last 10 games against the Warriors.
  • The Spurs are 1-5 ATS in their last six games as an underdog of 9.5 or more.
  • The Warriors are 0-7 ATS in their last seven games after an ATS win.

The Warriors dropped 10 of their final 17 regular-season games but tightened up their defense in a big way in Game 1 by holding the Spurs to only 17 points in the first quarter. Golden State is navigating the waters without star point guard Stephen Curry, who’s already been ruled out for the entirety of the first round. Head coach Steve Kerr opted to start Andre Iguodala over Quinn Cook, which left the Warriors without a true point guard, but Kevin Durant did a great job running the offense thanks to a 24-point, eight-rebound, seven-assist effort.

San Antonio didn’t get much production from its starters in Game 1, as LaMarcus Aldridge (14 points) was the only player in the starting five to reach double-digit points. The Spurs shot a measly 40 percent from the floor and managed only three offensive rebounds in the setback. The status surrounding small forward Kawhi Leonard has been murky to say the least, and the team has already announced the San Diego State product will miss the remainder of the playoffs due to a lingering quad injury.

The OVER is trending when the Spurs play away from AT&T Center. In San Antonio’s past six road games, the OVER is 5-1.
