The Morning Dunk: Wembanyama Posterized As Warriors Prevail

A giant gets put on a highlight-reel, a legendary triple-double streak ends, and an All-Star returns in this Tuesday edition of The Morning Dunk, recapping all of the top NBA news and highlights from Monday's slate of games.

Wembanyama Put On Poster In Loss To Curry-less Warriors

Yes, even the 7-foot-4 No. 1 overall pick isn't immune to getting dunked on. It's not easy, but as we witnessed on Monday, it's absolutely possible.

Golden State Warriors big man Trayce Jackson-Davis beat Victor Wembanyama off the dribble and threw it down on the Frenchman for the and-1 dunk in an eventual 112-102 victory over the San Antonio Spurs at the Frost Bank Center.

Wembanyama returned from an ankle injury which kept him out of action on Saturday against Golden State. He finished with 27 points, 14 rebounds, and a pair of rejections, while Jonathan Kuminga had 22 points and five boards for the Warriors.

San Antonio failed to cover the spread for just the second time in its last seven outings, entering as the 4.5-point underdogs.

Doncic's 30-Point Triple-Double Streak Ends Vs. Bulls

Notch another triple-double in the books for Luka Doncic, although his historic streak did come to a halt in the Windy City.

Doncic's streak of 30-point triple-doubles ended at six games in a blowout 127-92 win for the Dallas Mavericks over the Chicago Bulls, but he still finished with 27 points, 12 rebounds, and 14 assists for his 17th triple-double of the 2023-24 campaign.

Doncic remains one of three players with greater than 10-to-1 odds for the NBA's Most Valuable Player award at +800, although he's still well behind Nikola Jokic (-230) and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (+330).

Booker Returns As Phoenix Holds Off Cleveland

Devin Booker suited up for the Phoenix Suns after missing the last four games with an ankle injury, contributing heavily against a Cleveland Cavaliers squad missing several key bodies.

He finished with 27 points, six rebounds, and seven assists as Phoenix withstood the resilient Cavaliers to emerge with a 117-111 win at Quicken Loans Arena.

Cleveland was without Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, Dean Wade, and Max Strus due to injury.

The Suns maintain the sixth seed in the Western Conference with a 38-27 record SU, which is one game ahead of the seventh seed and the first of four play-in tournament slots.
