Raptors Come Into Playoffs On A Hot Streak

The Raptors lost their final regular season game 105-94 to the New York Knicks on Sunday as they rested some of their key players ahead of the playoffs. Obi Toppin had 42 points and 10 boards while Immanuel Quickly had 34 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds to lead New York. Chris Boucher scored 21 to top Toronto.

Toronto comes into its first round matchup as one of the hottest teams in the NBA, tied with the Dallas Mavericks for the most wins over the final 10 games of the season. The Raptors have shown an ability to play both ways: they’re averaging 114.7 points over their lasts 10 games, so they can outscore you, but they’re giving up just 107.1 points on the season, so they can also shut you down.

OG Anunoby (thigh) is probable for Saturday’s game.

76ers, Embiid Turn It Up Down The Stretch

The Sixers won their final game of the season 118-106 over the Detroit Pistons on Sunday. Shake Milton scored 30 and Tyrese Maxey had 25 to lead the way for Philadelphia while Luka Garza (20 points, 10 rebounds) had a double-double for Detroit.

Like Toronto, Philadelphia comes into the postseason in good form, with Joel Embiid especially turning it up through the final week of the season. The big man sat last game but averaged 37.7 points over his last six outings, including three 40-plus point performances over that span. The duo of Embiid and James Harden will be Philadelphia’s key to unlocking a tight Toronto defense in this series.

Raptors vs 76ers Pick & Insights

Raptors: Keys to Cover

While most pundits are picking the 76ers in either six or seven games, the Raps will like their chances in this series. Both teams had very similar stats, scoring about 110 points per game and giving up about 107 points against. Toronto went 24-17 on the road while Philadelphia went 24-17 at home. If the Raptors continue to get scoring from all five starters while keeping up the defensive intensity, they could surprise in Game 1.

76ers: Keys to Cover

Embiid is certainly the x-factor in this series as he can single-handedly take over any given game, but we can’t understate Philadelphia’s depth either. Tyrese Maxey (17.5 points per game), Tobias Harris (17.2 points per game) and Seth Curry (15 points per game) are all key secondary options for the Sixers and they’ll need to contribute, especially if the Raps key in on Embiid.
