Raptors Have Been Just Fine in Kyle Lowry's Stead
Going 10-5 without their all-star point guard, the Raptors have fared much better than they were given credit for when the news came down that Kyle Lowry would be gone for the remainder of the regular season. DeMar DeRozan, with some help, has carried the Raptors to a four-game winning streak during which he’s contributed a total of 118 points. He and the Dinos will take on the Mavericks tonight in the second and final contest of a short southern road trip in a game that – incredibly – opened as a pick’em.
Although the trends aren’t in their favor, the Raptors are a far superior team to the Mavericks. They’ve won 12 more games than the Mavs this season and when they met up in the Big Smoke a little under two weeks ago, Dallas was cheered out of the Air Canada Centre to the tune of a 22-point loss.
Toronto has historically struggled in the Big D but taking two of the last three against the Mavs in Texas, the Raptors are starting to buck that trend. If I were capping this game, I’d peg the Raptors as a 3- or 4-point favorite so I’ll be all over them if the line stays close to even.
