The Nets opened as the somewhat surprising 1-point home favorite with the total set at 229 points. The OVER is 3-0 in Brooklyn’s last three outings while the UNDER is 8-2 in Utah’s last 10. Jazz Banged Up Going Into Monday’s Matchup
Utah cruised to a 108-93 win over the New York Knicks on Sunday thanks to a 36-point performance from Donovan Mitchell. Four other players scored in double digits for the Jazz while RJ Barrett led the Knicks with 24 points.
After a lukewarm start to the month, Mitchell has turned up the heat by averaging 30.2 points over his last five appearances. The guard missed Utah’s game on Friday due to a calf contusion but that didn’t slow him down Sunday as he topped 35 points for the second straight game.
The Jazz will go into Monday’s matchup a bit banged up as Mike Conley (knee), Bogdan Bogdanovic (wrist), Trent Forrest (wrist), Udoka Azubuike (ankle) and Danuel House Jr. (knee) are all listed as questionable.
Nets Enjoying Late-Season Turnaround
Kevin Durant had a monster 38-point performance on Friday to lead the Nets to a 128-123 win over the Portland Trail Blazers. Seth Curry also came up big, scoring 27 points thanks to seven three-pointers in his return to the lineup after an ankle injury.
With Irving still unable to play at Barclays Center, it’s obvious that Durant will have to do most of the heavy lifting on his own, but it’s been much easier of late with added support around the star forward.
Curry is the obvious choice as a second option behind Durant, but the Nets have also seen some strong showings from Goran Dragic, Andre Drummond and Bruce Brown Jr. in recent outings – a big part of their success of late.
LaMarcus Aldridge (hip) is out.
Jazz vs Nets Pick & Insights
Jazz: Keys To Cover
The Jazz would normally be the favorites in this one if not for so many question marks on the injury front. They have been sturdy defensively all season, sporting the ninth-best defense in the NBA (107.4 points against per game), but even stronger recently, surrendering just 104.4 points per contest over their last nine outings – a 6-3 run. If they can contain the Nets offense, even a depleted Jazz team should come out ahead.
Nets: Keys To Cover
Durant will be expected to carry most of the load without Irving but Curry plus the emergence of some depth scoring should help a lot. Durant has averaged 30 points per game this month since returning from injury, but he may need to be even better than that on Monday to earn the win.
