Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors are home underdogs vs the Utah Jazz.

Curry, Warriors Closing Season Strong

Steph Curry is on fire again, scoring at least 30 points in six straight and eight of his last nine. His Warriors (35-33 SU, 33-35 ATS) have won four of their last five going into an important meeting with the league-leading Jazz (50-18, 39-28-1). Golden State opened as a 2.5-point home underdog.

Sportsbook Odds Analysis

Oddsmakers waited until Monday morning to open the Jazz as 2.5-point road favorites and the total at 229.5. Early action supported Utah and the UNDER, moving those numbers to -3 and 228.5 at most sportsbooks at the time of writing.

Utah News & Notes

After briefly losing their perch atop the West a couple of weeks ago, the Jazz have won five straight to enter the final week of the season with a two-game lead over Phoenix for the No. 1 seed. Utah wasn’t at its best Saturday at home to Houston, however, trailing in the second quarter and having to play several starters late into the game on the way to a 124-116 victory.

The final score was a bit deceiving as the Jazz led by 22 points before allowing Houston to close the game with a 14-0 run, but Utah players admitted afterward that they may have let down a bit against Houston following a tough win the previous night against Denver.

“After an emotional night, these are what we call trap games,” forward Georges Niang told the Salt Lake Tribune.

Niang has never been better in a game than he was Saturday, when he scored a career-high 24 points on 9-for-12 shooting. Jordan Clarkson added 21 and Bojan Bogdanovic scored 20 as the Jazz remained without their starting backcourt of Donovan Mitchell and Mike Conley. Mitchell will likely be out until the playoffs with a sprained right ankle, while Conley has missed Utah’s last six games due to hamstring tightness.

Golden State News & Notes

After outscoring the Thunder 254-194 in their last two games, the Warriors face much tougher competition in the final week of the season as they look to nail down a top-eight spot in the West.

Following tonight’s contest against Utah, Golden State faces Phoenix tomorrow, then draws the Pelicans and Grizzlies to close out the campaign. Memphis is one of the teams hot on Golden State’s heels for the eighth seed, entering action half a game behind the Warriors.

As big as this week is for the Warriors, it’s also a big one for Steph Curry as he bids to become the oldest player to win the NBA scoring title since Michael Jordan in 1998. Curry isn’t hiding the fact that winning the scoring crown is important to him, acknowledging as much to reporters after scoring 49 points — including 24 in the first quarter — against the Thunder on Saturday. Curry hit 11 of 21 shots from behind the arc in less than 30 minutes as Golden State set a franchise record with 27 triples.

Betting Pick: Warriors +3

When Curry’s on his game, the Warriors are live to beat anybody, and Golden State should be the hungrier of these two squads as it fights for the eighth seed.
