Can Jazz Make it Four Straight Covers to Start the Season?
The Utah Jazz topped the Los Angeles Clippers in a seven-game playoff series last season, but both franchises proceeded to lose a star player in the offseason and have a different look to them this year. With each squad owning two wins, the Western Conference foes will collide in California tonight.
With Chris Paul out of town, the Clippers have been forced to turn things over to Blake Griffin and the power forward has produced in the starring role so far. Griffin scored 29 points in each of his team’s first two contests while collecting an average of 10 rebounds. It hasn’t all been good news for L.A., however, as new starting point guard Milos Teodosic suffered a plantar fascia injury in his left foot during the Clippers’ win over the Phoenix Suns on Saturday.
In place of Gordon Hayward, Joe Ingles is another player who’s stepped up. Ingles is averaging 14.7 points while making 12 of 19 three-point shot attempts through three games. The Australian averaged only 7.1 points as a reserve last season.
Jazz shooting guard Rodney Hood is listed as questionable for the tilt after missing the previous game with a calf injury.
Dating back to last season, the Jazz have been absolute road warriors when it comes to covering spreads on the road, as Utah is 8-0 ATS in its last eight road contests.
