Despite Being on Verge of Elimination, Thunder Getting Favorite Label in Game 5

After dropping Game 1, the Utah Jazz have proceeded to rattle off three straight wins over the Oklahoma City Thunder and can put the finishing touches on the Thunder’s season with a win in Game 5 at Chesapeake Energy Arena on Wednesday. The Jazz picked up a rare win in OKC in Game 2, as Utah is 1-15 SU in its past 16 trips to Oklahoma City.

Sportsbook opened the Thunder as 3.5-point home favorites with a total of 207.5.

SHARK BITES

  • The Thunder are 1-9 SU and ATS in their last 10 games vs divisional opponents.
  • The Jazz are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games in the playoffs on the road.

The Jazz averaged 114 points in both of their wins at home and star rookie guard Donovan Mitchell is averaging 27.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in the series. Mitchell’s 33-point effort in Game 4 marked the most points scored by a rookie in franchise playoff history, surpassing Karl Malone, who scored 31 in 1986. The Thunder have struggled in many areas this series, but their poor effort from three-point range has been the team’s Achilles heel. OKC shot a combined 5-for-26 from downtown in Game 4. Carmelo Anthony is shooting just 37.3 percent in the series while averaging 14.3 points and 6.5 rebounds.

The Jazz are lights-out with one day off between games. Utah is 15-0 in its past 15 with one day of rest.
