Wizards’ Skid Continues, Beal Sidelined

Washington lost big on Saturday, falling 115-95 to the Memphis Grizzlies as Ja Morant dropped 34 points to lead all scorers. Kyle Kuzma had a big game with 30 points and eight boards while Bradley Beal had just nine points and 12 assists, sustaining a wrist injury in the process.

The Wizards haven’t been fantastic defensively this season (19th overall; 110.1 points against per game), but they’ve fallen off even more during their five-game skid, surrendering 115 points per contest. If there is any silver lining, it’s that they’ve been close in three of those losses, losing by four points once and by just a single point twice. Despite the team’s struggles, Kuzma had a strong month of January, posting 22.5 points and 11.1 rebounds per game.

To make matters worse for the Wizards, Beal (wrist) is ruled out for Tuesday’s contest.

Bucks Continue To Struggle Despite Antetokounmpo’s Strong Play

The Bucks were blown out in their last game, losing 136-100 to the Denver Nuggets on Sunday. Aaron Gordon led Denver with 24 points while Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 29 to lead Milwaukee in a losing effort.

Milwaukee had a lukewarm start to the new year, going 7-8 in January, though Antetokounmpo was excellent on an individual level, posting 31.5 points and 10.8 rebounds per game over the past month.

The Bucks have picked up big victories over top competition in recent weeks, including the Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls and Memphis Grizzlies, but they gave those wins right back with losses to weak teams like the Atlanta Hawks and Detroit Pistons.

George Hill (neck) is out for Tuesday’s matchup.

Wizards vs Bucks Pick & Insights

Wizards: Keys To Cover

With leading scorer Beal out of the lineup, the Wizards will need another big offensive performance from Kuzma to keep this one close. If they can come out strong and take an early lead, they may be able to capitalize on a deflated Bucks team that hasn’t been able to maintain any momentum.

Bucks: Keys To Cover

It could be a big night for Antetokounmpo as the two-time MVP will surely be licking his chops against a short-handed Wizards squad. The Bucks should look at this game as an opportunity to bear down and pick up an easy win over lesser competition – though the easy games have been the opposite for Milwaukee of late.
