Georgia vs Alabama Odds & Picks Week 5: 'Bama Owns Bulldogs

Flashback to 2007, that was the last time Alabama was home underdogs in Tuscaloosa.

Until now.

Week 5 highlights No. 2 Georgia visiting No. 4 Alabama (+2.5), each policing their undefeated records. Stakes are critical as the winner of this meeting undoubtedly takes control of the competitive SEC, earning a significant jump in their College Football Playoff odds.

Despite a modern era of accolades, including a pair of national championships, there's one feat Kirby Smart and the 'Dogs can't overcome. With a seven-game streak over Georgia, I'm taking Alabama in hands down the game of the week.

Georgia vs alabama Picks – Week 5

Georgia hasn't defeated Alabama in the regular season since 2007, and even that win was a tight 26-23 tilt.

It's got to be frustrating at this point. The Bulldogs have arguably been the top program in the nation the last few years, yet never quite look like it when joined on the field by 'Bama. Then, we have to consider the fact that Kirby Smart's last outing was a 13-12 scare over Kentucky in Week 3.

Heisman Trophy frontrunners, Carson Beck and Jalen Milroe, will be in the spotlight. However, if you're asking me, I'm putting the Alabama signal caller on a higher pedestal. Milroe is a dual threat, completing over 70% of passes on two occasions, only tossing the ball when he sees fit. But, with 156 rushing yards and running into the endzone six times, the junior executes his mobility efficiently -- something Beck can't keep up with.

In high-ranked matchups like this, a bettor needs to be strategic. Clearly, Alabama has shown a trend of shutting down Georgia. Add in the atmosphere at Bryant-Denny Stadium. At an underdog position, my best option is to lean on two attacking offenses to create a close scoreboard or for the Tide to pull off a not-so-unpredictable upset.

There's a lingering concern about Carson Beck's health as kick-off nears. In Week 3, the senior did suffer an AC joint sprain that definitely affected his game, where he recorded a weak 160 passing yards and failed to hit the endzone.

Though, Kirby Smart was a tad hostile when asked about the injury. “I don’t know where all that’s coming from, we got like seven AC joint sprains, so that’s not a significant or major injury,” said Smart, according to USA Today. The head coach may be adamant that he's fine. But, there's still a minor concern to consider.

georgia vs alabama Prop Bet: jalen milroe Anytime TD (-105)

Milroe has ran into the endzone at least twice in all three outings this season. Georgia's rushing defense (108 YPG) struggled against Kentucky, coughing up 170 yards to the Wildcats. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs sit ninth in the nation for passing defense (128 YPG). With Milroe not afraid to use his feet and a lot on the line, he'll be eyeing the endzone.
