Jayson Tatum had a big night with 36 points and 12 rebounds to help the Celtics eke out a 123-119 win over the Chicago Bulls on Friday. Malcolm Brogdon was also productive off the bench for Boston with 25 points in 29 minutes, while DeMar DeRozan nearly willed his team to victory singlehandedly, scoring 46 points for Chicago in the loss.

Brogdon has had a relatively slow start to the year for the C’s since moving over from the Indiana Pacers this offseason, but he hit his stride on Friday, shooting 9-for-10 from the field to score a season-high 25 points. The point guard is averaging 21 points over his last three outings and could become a much more reliable weapon for Boston as the season gets going.

Knicks Beat Sixers To Snap Skid

The Knicks snapped a three-game losing skid on Friday as they defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 106-104 on the road. Jalen Brunson (23 points) and RJ Barrett (22 points) led the way for the Knicks while Tyrese Maxey had 31 to top the 76ers in scoring.

New York’s lineup lacks true star power and that’s shown through the first few weeks of the season. The Knicks are scoring 115.1 points per game – about middle of the pack at 12th overall. Brunson, who signed with the team this offseason from Dallas, has been the Knicks’ closest thing to a star thus far. The point guard is leading New York is 18.4 points per game while dishing out 6.9 assists – both career bests at this point.
