MLB Expert Picks June 13

MLB Expert Picks For Today: Trust Mitch

I'm back with another day of MLB expert picks, honing in on some pitching mismatches I think will bring us wins.

With two NL selections headlining the card, here are my MLB expert picks for June 13th, 2024:

Pick 1: Pirates ML (-108) vs Cardinals

Matchup Preview - Game Time: 2:11 pm ET

All the attention has been on Paul Skenes and Jared Jones, but Pirates starter Mitch Keller is quietly throwing ace-like, as well. Keller has allowed five total earned runs across his last six starts, lowering his season ERA down to 3.16. The Pirates have won Keller's last seven outings, too.

Keller's also going against a Cardinals offense that's scored just 51 runs in the last 13 games (3.9 per game) with a team OPS of .681. On the season, the Cardinals have the fourth-fewest runs scored in baseball. This is a great spot for Keller to keep shoving.

The Pirates are also sneaky great against the Cardinals lately. Pittsburgh has won 10 of the last 15 meetings with St. Louis.

Pick 2: Mets -1.5 (+105) vs Marlins

Matchup Preview - Game Time: 7:11 pm ET

The Mets are on quite the heater. Over the last two weeks, New York owns the third-best team OPS in baseball (.829), hitting .289 as a squad with 68 runs scored in their last 12 contests. They've scored six or more runs in five of their last seven games, winning five of those contests, too.

The Marlins rank out with the sixth-lowest team OPS in that same time frame, scoring under 3.6 runs per game over the last two weeks.

The cherry on top for me here is Luis Severino pitching for the Mets. The New York righty has dealt to a 3.25 ERA and 4-2 record this season, allowing two or fewer earned runs in seven of his 12 outings. If the Mets offense can stay hot, they should be backing Severino to an easy victory against a weak Marlins squad.
