MLB Expert Picks For Today: Fade The Blue Jays

After a few wins to start the week, I'm heading back to the MLB expert picks for Tuesday's slate. I'm picking on two struggling teams right now, with the Blue Jays on a seven-game losing streak and the Giants on a 1-5 slide.

Picking against both those ailing teams, here are my MLB expert picks for June 25th, 2024:

Pick 1: Red Sox (-118) vs Blue Jays

Matchup Preview - Game Time: 7:11 pm ET

The Blue Jays have lost seven straight games, rocking a run differential of -20 in that stretch. After blowing a four-run lead in Monday's loss to Boston, the Jays simply look defeated. They're now closer to the bottom of the league than they are to a playoff spot. Vibes are horrific and this is the perfect time to fade Toronto.

Even from a classic betting perspective, I don't love the Blue Jays tonight. Toronto starter Kevin Gausman has failed to pitch a quality start in three of his last four games, watching his season ERA rise to 4.24.

Last time out against the Red Sox, Gausman gave up five runs in 5.2 innings. He's been historically bad against Boston, too, allowing current Red Sox hitters to post a .316 career batting average and .888 OPS against him.

Jarren Duran, in particular, has Gausman's number. The outfielder has five extra-base hits in 13 career at-bats against the Toronto righty.

Pick 2: Cubs (-118) vs Giants

Matchup Preview - Game Time: 9:46 pm ET

Speaking of teams on a slide, the Giants are big-time struggling right now. San Francisco has dropped five of the last six games and won just eight of 21 games in June.

The losses are coming from bad pitching, lately. The Giants have the fifth-worst team ERA over the last two weeks (5.02). I wouldn't expect the pitching edge to fall in San Francisco's favor tonight, either.

The Giants face off against Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks who is quietly having a solid run of games. The 34-year-old has allowed just one earned run in his last four appearances (14.1 IP), striking out 12 batters to three walks in that time. Hendricks also carves through the Giants batters, historically. The long-time Cubs starter has held current San Fran hitters to a .133 collective average and .388 OPS in 75 career at-bats.
