Guardians vs Yankees Odds & Picks Game 2: Bet On Guards

It's time to break down Game 2 odds for this Guardians vs Yankees American League Championship Series.

The sportsbooks, once again, have the Yanks as favorites. After winning Game 1, New York is a -172 favorite with Gerrit Cole on the mound tonight.

I'm willing to bet on Tanner Bibee and the Guardians' bullpen carrying us to an upset here. Everyone knows how good CLE's relievers are, but Bibee has been the ace this season. The Guardians have won his last four starts, including both Bibee outings in the ALDS. He's allowed more than two earned runs in just one of his last seven starts.

And on the other side, I'm not that scared of Gerrit Cole. Even with his great performance in Game 5 against the Royals last week, Cole still has a 4.4 FIP in his last six postseason starts. He's had a few really bad playoff starts in his career, allowing five or more runs three times.

Cole also isn't incredible against Guardians hitters. He allows an OBP over .300 to current CLE bats with a .708 OPS — that may seem low for most pitchers, but it's high for Cole.

Jose Ramirez, in particular, has great historical numbers against Cole. He hits .391 in 23 career at-bats against the ace with more walks than strikeouts and two homers.

This may not seem like the greatest value bet in the world, but it is. Ramirez is somehow fourth on the odds board to get a hit tonight, even though I'd argue he should be first (or at worst second).

Ramirez has eight hits in his last 10 games, but he really matches up well against Gerrit Cole. As I mentioned above, Ramirez has hit .391 against Cole in his career and has pretty good numbers against key Yankees relievers, too.
