Data as of March 28, 2024 (excluding Korea Series opener)

Orioles Are The Kings of Opening Day

The Orioles may not be serious World Series contenders, but they’re the kings of Opening Day.

Baltimore embodies the eternal hope of baseball’s Opening Day. The Orioles have made the playoffs just three times in the last 25 years, but they always give their fans something to dream about to start the season. Baltimore has earned the most wins (18) and easily the highest betting profits (+$1,491.33) in the last 25 years of Opening Days.

Recently the O’s have been heavy underdogs to start the season most years, but that won't be the case in '24. Betting the Birds this year might not be very lucrative, though, as Baltimore draws the Angels at Camden Yards in a game that favors the home squad.

Avoid The Cleveland Guardians On Opening Day

While the Orioles have been MLB’s best on the first day, the Cleveland Guardians have been the worst club. Since 1999, Cleveland is 8-17 SU on Opening Day, losing a heavy $915.35.

The club's luck seems bound to change in 2024 as Cleveland heads to Oakland for a road showdown vs the A's. The Athletics (9-16 SU) aren't much better than the Guardians in recent history, but Oakland is arguably the worst club in baseball right now.
