It's Dodger Day for my MLB player prop picks today. I'm focusing on a Dodgers vs Giants matchup where Clayton Kershaw faces off against Logan Webb, taking Freddie Freeman's total bases and Kershaw's strikeouts as my two MLB props.
Here are my two MLB player prop picks today with breakdowns:
MLB Prop Pick Today: Freddie Freeman OVER 1.5 Total Bases (EVEN)
Giants vs Dodgers Odds - Game Time: 4:10 pm ET
Not many players have historical success against Giants starter Logan Webb, but Freddie Freeman is an exception.
The Dodgers 1B has 14 hits in 34 career at-bats against Webb (including four extra-base knocks). He's got a career .412 average and 1.033 OPS against the Giants ace.
This season, Freeman has faced Webb three times, notching five hits across those three contests and going over this 1.5 total base mark twice. If you want to take an alt-line shot at Freeman over 2.5 total bases, you can get that at +240. It's a mark Freeman has surpassed in one of his three contests against Webb already this year.
MLB Prop Pick Today: Clayton Kershaw UNDER 4.5 Ks (+104)
Giants vs Dodgers Odds - Game Time: 4:10 pm ET
I'm as big of a Kershaw guy as you'll find, but it's hard to expect much out of the 36-year-old making his first start of the season. The Dodgers lefty has made three minor-league rehab starts this year, never reaching more than four innings and averaging just four strikeouts per contest.
He draws a tough opponent for his first game too, facing a Giants lineup that's struck out just 29 times in 119 career at-bats against Kershaw. That 24% strikeout rate is about league average, but won't be enough for Kershaw to best 4.5 Ks when he won't be going deep today.
Yes, Kershaw did strike out five batters in each of his two contests against the Giants last year, but that's when he was fully stretched out and dealing at the end of the season.
