Yankees vs Royals Odds & Picks Game 4: Can KC Stay Alive?

I'm here to break down Game 4 Royals vs Yankees odds for this American League Division Series contest.

The sportsbooks have Gerrit Cole's Yankees as -156 favorites to beat the Royals and clinch this series. But, I think the Kansas City still has a bit of life.

Yankees vs Royals Pick - Game 4

Royals ML (+132)

This series has been much tighter than most expected, with the Yankees winning their two games by a single run and the run differential sitting even through three contests.

But really, I'm backing the underdog Royals in this one because I just don't trust Gerrit Cole in a big spot. The Yankees ace is 2-2 in his last five playoff starts with a 4.26 ERA and 5.02 FIP in that stretch. In Game 1 of this series, Cole let up four runs in five innings to the Royals. He's allowed more runs than any other starter in the series so far.

On the flip side, the Royals have won eight of Michael Wacha's last 12 starts. With their backs against the wall, I expect the Royals to trot out Wacha and all the elite bullpen options to push this to a Game 5.

Yankees vs Royals Player Prop Pick

Gerrit Cole OVER 2.5 ER Allowed (+120)

At plus money, this seems like a steal of a bet. Cole has allowed over 2.5 earned runs in his last two playoff starts and four of his last six postseason outings. If you want to go back to the regular season, Cole has allowed 11 earned runs in his last four starts (2.75 per outing).

The Royals may not be a great offense, but they've scored over 2.5 runs against New York's starters in two of the first three games of this series, already. Why not once more?
