Nets Defense Struggles Against Grizzlies
The Nets fell to 1-2 on the season after losing 134-124 to the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving each scored 37 points but they were one-upped by Ja Morant and Desmond Bane, who had 38 apiece for Memphis. Nic Claxton (16 points) was the only other Nets player to finish in double digits.
Defense has been an issue early on in 2022-23 for the Nets, who are allowing 123 points per game – the third-worst mark in the NBA. That shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise given Brooklyn finished 20th in opponent points per game last season (112.1), but there’s got to be some improvement.
Antetokounmpo Drops 44 On Rockets
The Bucks won their second straight game to start the year with a 125-105 victory over the Houston Rockets on Saturday. Giannis Antetokounmpo went off for 44 points and 12 boards to lead the charge while Jrue Holiday (19 points, 10 assists) also added a double-double. Jalen Green topped Houston with 22 points in the loss.
It was a big bounce-back game for Holiday, who shot 2-for-15 and had just six points in the season opener against Philadelphia, while Saturday’s win was business as usual for Antetokounmpo, who shot 17-for-21 in just 28 minutes on the floor.
Nets Player Prop: Durant OVER 32 Points (+116)
Durant is averaging exactly 32 points through three games with his 37 points in Monday’s loss standing as his current season high. He played 39 minutes against Memphis and he’ll likely get another heavy workload on Wednesday – look for Durant to hit the OVER on 32 points.
Bucks Player Prop: Antetokounmpo OVER 37 Points (+160)
Antetokounmpo will be licking his chops coming into Wednesday’s contest given how porous Brooklyn’s defense has been in the early going. The Bucks superstar is getting +160 to hit the OVER on 37 points – a lofty number but well within reach given his current form.
Nets: Keys To Win
The Nets certainly have the firepower in Durant and Irving, who are still one of the best duos in the NBA, but they aren’t going to win many games unless they can find a way to tighten up defensively. If Brooklyn can find a way to slow down Milwaukee’s offense, they should have a chance.
Bucks: Keys To Win
The Bucks have been a one-man show offensively so far with Antetokounmpo (32.5 points) averaging nearly 20 more than the next-closest scorer on the team (Brook Lopez, 13). While the Bucks are undefeated so far, they’ll want to see Lopez, Holiday and Bobby Portis get even more involved offensively.
