Durant Leads Nets To Fourth Straight Win

The Nets stretched their win streak to four games on Monday as they defeated the Washington Wizards 112-100. Kevin Durant led the way with 30 points and had nine rebounds to come just short of the double-double, while Kyrie Irving scored 24. Will Barton (22 points), Kyle Kuzma (20 points) and Kristaps Porzingis (20 points) each had 20-plus in the loss.

Brooklyn has been on fire since mid-November, winning eight of their last nine and 11 of their last 14 contests. That surge has been led by Durant and Irving, of course, with the club averaging 114.3 points over that span. While we always expect the offense to be there, it’s perhaps more surprising how good Brooklyn has been defensively – the Nets rank eighth in the NBA with 110.9 points against per game this season.

VanVleet Scores 39 But Raptors Lose Again

The Raptors suffered their third straight defeat on Wednesday as they lost a close one, falling 124-123 to the Sacramento Kings. De’Aron Fox (27 points) and Malik Monk (24 points) were Sacramento’s top scorers while Domantas Sabonis (21 points, 20 rebounds) had a huge double-double in the win. Fred VanVleet scored 39 points for Toronto but only three others managed double digits for the Raptors.

While the Nets have been heating up, the Raptors have sputtered down the stretch, going 6-10 over their last 16 contests. While Toronto does have six players averaging at least 10 points per game this season, only Pascal Siakam (24.6) is above the 20-point mark, which has led the Raptors to a middling offense that ranks 19th in the NBA (111.3 points per game).

Nets Player Prop: Durant OVER 30 Points (+119)

Durant is averaging exactly 30 points per game this season and has scored 30-plus in seven of his last nine outings. Although the Nets star is averaging just 18.7 points in three games against Toronto this season, he’s been hot of late and should be able to clear the OVER on Friday.

Raptors Player Prop: VanVleet OVER 22 Points (+104)

VanVleet had a slow start to the season, scoring just over 13 points per game in October, but has been right around the 20-point mark since then. The guard has had at least 20 points in three of his last four games so he should have a fair chance at hitting the OVER in this matchup.

Nets vs Raptors Picks & Insights

Nets: Keys To Victory

While Durant and Irving have been clicking, the Nets have found a way to clamp down defensively, which is why they’re one of the hottest teams in the NBA right now. Coming up against a Raptors squad that’s struggling offensively, they should be able to keep their win streak alive.

Raptors: Keys To Victory

With OG Anunoby, the team’s second-leading scorer, ruled out for Friday’s game, the Raptors will need others to step up. Scottie Barnes has had a somewhat underwhelming start to his sophomore campaign – can he use this opportunity to step up and deliver when his team needs him? If he can, the Raps may just pull out the win.
