New York Knicks vs. Phoenix Suns Expert Picks
New York Knicks ATS -5 (-112), New York Knicks ML (-205)
During their streak of good fortune, New York's offense has clicked to the tune of 130.5 points per 100 possessions, ranking second in the Association. The team has covered, pushed, and failed on the spread during that stretch, although the push and fail came in two competitive matchups with the feisty Brooklyn Nets.
The Suns, meanwhile, are figuring out life without Kevin Durant, who has missed the last six games and was ruled out for two weeks with a calf injury. Phoenix has gone 1-5 SU with four-straight defeats minus the former league Most Valuable Player, and now may be without Bradley Beal (calf) and Jusuf Nurkic (ankle) on Wednesday as both starters are currently listed as questionable.
In their own backyard, the Suns rarely if ever cover the spread at just 1-6 ATS, with the lone cover being in their home opener on Oct. 26. New York is 5-2 SU this season when favored by five or more points, and 3-3-1 ATS. Phoenix just hasn't been the same offensively sans Durant, and the lack of consistency with bodies in and out of the lineup isn't a formula for success against a Knicks team clearly on a roll.
OVER 222.5 Points (-110)
Both New York and Phoenix have hit the OVER more often than they haven't in 2024-25 with 8-6 and 9-6 records, respectively. The Knicks have also hit the OVER in three of their last four games, while the Suns have done so in four of their last six.
Both defenses have left a lot to be desired as of late, and with Phoenix down bodies, buckets should be at a premium on Wednesday.
New York Knicks vs. Phoenix Suns Player Prop
Josh Hart OVER 12.5 Points (-111)
Considering this game may get away from the Suns early if any combination of Beal and Nurkic sits along with the already absent Durant, Josh Hart could see an uptick in minutes as head coach Tom Thibodeau's energizer bunny so the likes of Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, and O.G. Anunoby can rest.
Hart has scored 14 or more points in five of his last six games, and only needs 13 against the Suns for the OVER to connect here. With Phoenix's defensive rating plummeting to 26th overall (118.6 points allowed per 100 possessions) in these six games without Durant, that number is more than obtainable.
