Virginia Tech Goes For Third Straight Bowl Victory
A national ranking was not enough to get Virginia Tech into one of the premier bowls but the Hokies will have to be sharp on December 29 if they want to end their season on a high note against the Arkansas Razorbacks at the Belk Bowl.
Their second consecutive loss to Clemson at the ACC championship was a tough pill to swallow for the Hokies but it likely wouldn’t have changed much except maybe where their final game would be played. VT opened as a touchdown favorite and this season could very easily be labeled a disaster if they don’t take down the Razorbacks.
Arkansas had an up-and-down season with an incredibly difficult SEC schedule, their losses coming against Texas A&M, Auburn, Louisiana State, Missouri and Alabama. The Razorbacks’ best win of the season came over the Florida Gators but they also put up a valiant fight against the Crimson Tide, scoring 30 points on the best defense in the nation.
Virginia Tech quarterback Jerod Evans combined to pass and rush for over 4000 yards and accounted for 37 touchdowns in his first year under center. He will be the critical piece in the Hokies’ quest for a Belk Bowl win.
